BJA Turntables – 14" Carbon-Aluminum Tonearm

A tonearm with an effective length of 14 inches follows a simple mechanical principle: the longer the lever arm, the lower the tracking error across the entire side of the record. BJA Turntables’ 14-inch carbon-and-aluminium tonearm focuses precisely on this foundation, complemented by a calm, controlled inertia that provides the right foundation for low-compliance cartridges with stiff suspensions.

My focus is consistently on precision manufacturing across all components: from the finely tuned aluminium housing parts and stainless-steel counterweights to the precisely drilled holes in the four-layer-wound carbon tube, every component is produced to the strictest CNC manufacturing tolerances.

Highlights & Design Features

100% CNC Precision Manufacturing: All components—including every cutout and drilled hole in the carbon tube—are machined on CNC equipment. This ensures perfect fit, crack-free carbon construction, and completely stress-free assembly.

Uninterrupted Signal Path: The internal wiring carries the signal directly from the headshell contacts to the RCA connectors, completely eliminating solder joints and additional mechanical contact points in the signal path.

Special High-End Internal Wiring: Ultra-thin tonearm wires with silk insulation are twisted and impregnated in hot wax. Each wire consists of 35 individual copper strands, each measuring 0.032 mm in diameter, ensuring minimal capacitance and the highest possible signal fidelity.

Japanese Precision Ball Bearings: The tonearm uses exclusively high-quality, ultra-low-tolerance ball bearings manufactured in Japan. They provide minimal friction, zero play, and clean, unrestricted tracking.

Purist, Four-Layer-Wound Carbon Tube (6 mm ID): Provides maximum torsional rigidity with low weight. Designed for lightning-fast transient response, maximum dynamics, and extremely low resonance.

BJA Single-Point Headshell: The single-point headshell mounting system enables continuous, highly precise adjustment of overhang, offset angle, and azimuth while maintaining minimal mechanical stress.

Stainless-Steel Counterweight with Fine Adjustment: In addition to the main counterweight, an additional fine-adjustment weight allows the tracking force to be set precisely to one-hundredth of a gram (0.01 g).

Perfect for Low-Compliance MC Cartridges: With an effective mass of approximately 15.1 g, the tonearm handles stiffly suspended cartridges with confidence and achieves ideal mechanical resonance characteristics.

Geometry & Dimensions

With an effective length of 355.6 mm, the 14-inch tonearm provides exceptionally accurate tracking. The required mounting distance (spindle-to-pivot) is 342.6 mm. This results in reducing the tracking error to an absolute minimum across the entire side of the record.

Materials & Signal Path

The tonearm tube, made from four-layer-wound carbon fiber with a 6 mm internal diameter, is paired with CNC-machined aluminium housing components and high-precision ball bearings from Japan.

For lossless signal transmission, ultra-thin tonearm wires are silk-insulated, twisted, and impregnated with hot wax. Each wire consists of 35 individual copper strands, each measuring 0.032 mm in diameter. The wiring runs continuously from the headshell contacts to the RCA connectors, with no solder joints anywhere in the signal path.

Adjustment & Cartridge Compatibility

A precisely machined stainless-steel main counterweight, combined with a specially designed fine-adjustment weight, allows the tracking force to be set with an accuracy of 0.01 grams.

The BJA single-point headshell mounting system also enables continuous adjustment of overhang, offset angle, and azimuth.

With an effective mass of approximately 15.1 g, the tonearm falls into the high-mass category and is ideally suited to stiffly suspended, low-compliance MC cartridges.
