BJA-News

The development of the BJA SilentAir Prestige is in full swing!

What to expect in 2026:
A completely new turntable, fully designed and manufactured in-house, with all components – including a newly developed, ultra-durable synchronous motor with electronic control, a new idler wheel and mechanism, a super-heavy main bearing, and an ultra-heavy platter – crafted by BJA Turntables.

The turntable’s speed will no longer be mechanically controlled, but electronically regulated (frequency-controlled) using a low-voltage power supply placed separately next to the unit. This eliminates the need for the original Lenco motor, which runs on mains power. The result: absolute precision and stability.

Switching between 33 and 45 RPM will be done via a selector switch, with fine-tuning handled by high-quality potentiometers. Set it once and forget it – perfect performance, every time!

The original geometry of the Lenco idler wheel will be retained – along with its characteristic drive and musicality.

Exciting things ahead!

I am pleased to announce that I have achieved a long-held goal: establishing my own CNC woodworking workshop.

This step allows me to design and manufacture all wooden components of my turntables entirely in-house using CNC technology. From material selection to the finished surface, everything is created under my direct supervision, ensuring consistently high quality and precision.

By bringing together design, CAD, CAM, CNC woodworking, assembly, and finishing under one roof, I can work more efficiently and respond even better to individual customer requirements.

For my customers, this means greater flexibility and the opportunity to receive a truly custom-made turntable – crafted entirely according to their wishes and expectations.

I have also fully refurbished my Schaublin-Villeneuve 102 lathe from the 1930s and brought it back to life.

Carefully restored, it was thoroughly cleaned, stripped of rust, repainted in classic hammer-finish paint, completely re-lubricated, digitized with an accuracy of 5/1000 mm, equipped with a Multifix tool post system, and converted to a continuously variable frequency-controlled 230V drive (VFD).

The Schaublin 102SV is an icon of Swiss mechanical engineering—renowned for its unmatched precision, durability, and craftsmanship. Compact yet extremely stable, it immediately conveys a sense of quality and purpose.

What truly sets this machine apart is the feeling when working with it: silky-smooth movements, direct control, and a level of precision that elevates machining into true craftsmanship.

The Schaublin 102SV is more than just a lathe—it is a timeless piece of engineering admired across generations and still capable of outstanding performance today.
