The Pursuit of Perfect Spatial Reproduction and a Natural Harmonic Spectrum

An excellent full-range or multi-way loudspeaker excels through coherence, dynamics, and musical flow. Yet, due to their physical design, even outstanding drivers encounter limitations in the highest treble range: directivity increases, while subtle spatial information and the natural brilliance of instruments can become diminished in the listening room.

The BJA Omnidirectional High-End Super-Tweeter was specifically developed to seamlessly extend this frequency range above 10 kHz. It adds a fascinating sense of air, three-dimensional depth, and effortless micro-dynamics to the soundstage—without altering the character of the main loudspeaker.

Acoustic Concept & Construction

1. 360° Spherical-Wave Dispersion (Omnidirectional)
At the heart of this high-frequency module is a vertically mounted planar-magnetic driver (Dynavox RT10) featuring an extremely lightweight, high-frequency-optimized diaphragm. The signal is reflected by a precision-machined aluminium profile cone positioned precisely at the center of the driver.

The result: the sound field is acoustically redirected into the horizontal plane and distributed evenly through a 360-degree radius throughout the room. The high frequencies are no longer concentrated into a narrow “sweet spot,” but instead fill the entire listening room with a natural, three-dimensional sound field—much like music propagates in a real acoustic space.

2. In-House CNC Manufacturing & Mechanical Decoupling
The enclosure is manufactured by BJA Turntables in its own CNC workshop, using a modern CNC milling machine to precisely machine selected wood composite / multiplex material.

Precision & Low Resonance: In-house manufacturing ensures exceptionally tight component tolerances and a precise fit. The accurately machined mounting system keeps the acoustic center of the reflector precisely aligned above the planar-magnetic driver.

Combined with carefully controlled surface damping, this construction minimizes unwanted cabinet resonances and standing waves.

3. Pure-Conductor Wiring & Component QualityInternal Construction:
The internal wiring uses twisted 4N (99.99% pure) 0.4 mm fine-silver wire routed with an air dielectric (like in my Interlinks...). This ensures extremely low capacitance, negligible skin effects, and exceptionally fast, uncoloured signal transmission.
1st-Order Filter: An audiophile-grade Mundorf MCap EVO Oil capacitor gently filters the tweeter from approximately 10–11 kHz while maintaining phase integrity. By avoiding complex filter networks, the full transient response and electrical dynamics of the diaphragm are preserved.
Level Adjustment: An integrated Visaton LC 57 L-pad (8 ohms) allows the super-tweeter's output level to be continuously and finely matched to the sensitivity of the main loudspeaker—without affecting the selected crossover frequency.

The Listening Experience

The BJA Super-Tweeter does not act as an upfront “attention-grabber,” but rather as a subtle spatial enhancer:

Expanded Soundstage: The boundaries of the room behind the loudspeakers seem to disappear. Voices and instruments gain more space, appearing more three-dimensional and tangible.
Natural Decay: The natural Air & Ambience of cymbals, triangles, and room ambience in live recordings emerges freely and naturally within the acoustic space.
Enhanced Bass & Midrange Perception: By accurately reconstructing the harmonic overtones, the brain also perceives the fundamental tones and midrange with greater structure and precision—a well-known psychoacoustic effect.
